BENCHMARKING FOR CLAW HEALTH AND LAMENESS IN AUSTRIAN DAIRY COWS

In D4Dairy, a benchmarking system for lameness and claw health in Austrian dairy cows has been developed. It is available to farmers in the LKV Herd Manager and can support the analysis of the improvement potential for one's own farm, encourage improvements and thus help to improve animal welfare and minimize economic losses due to lame cows.

DATA INTEGRATION WITH PRIVACY, CONSISTENCY AND QUALITY CHECKS FOR BETTER INSIGHT

The solution developed within D4Dairy connects and integrates all project-related subsystems and data sources. The system implements data anonymization, data fusion and statistical data quality checks. Although the core system is built from standard components, it integrates novel algorithms that make the system unique and tailored for dairy-specific data.

D4Dairy Closing Meeting at BOKU in Vienna

D4Dairy at ICAR/Interbull-Congress in Montreal

From 30 May to 4 June 2022, the international ICAR/Interbull conference took place in Canada with around 400 participants. An Austrian team of experts was on site and presented D4Dairy results.

First results of the project were presented to the D4Dairy farmers at information events held in Bergland (Lower Austria), Ansfelden (Upper Austria) and online. As a thank-you for the good cooperation and as a sign of appreciation for the commitment shown, personalised farm tables were given to the participating farms.

Third D4Dairy Annual Meeting took place in Linz

The third D4Dairy Annual Meeting took place in Linz on 22 and 23 September 2021. It was hosted by the Chamber of Agriculture of Upper Austria and the Upper Austrian Insemination Station. After an exciting keynote lecture on "Open Science with Closed Data: Data Spaces and Data Circles" by Prof. Allan Hanbury, progress in all projects was presented and discussed with the numerous partners present. Participants also had the opportunity to see digitalisation on a farm and discuss it with the farmer and each other.

The use of antimicrobial drugs and the subsequent selection for antibiotic-resistant bacteria is a global health problem affecting humans, animals and the environment. In D4Dairy, research is being carried out into the effects of feeding waste milk to calves in order to develop recommendations for the treatment of waste milk.
